What does the CTFMON.EXE do?

The CTFMON.EXE provides the "Alternative User Input" features like speech recognition and handwriting recognition. Microsoft installs this application with all office suites since Office XP. Starting with the release of Windows XP the CTFMON.EXE has become a part of the operating system itself.

Peculiarities

Deleting the CTFMON.EXE isn't enough to get rid of it. The Office applications detect the deletion and try to reinstall it. Removing the entry from the section "Run" in the Windows registry is also futile because the entry will be restored the next time you start a program like Microsoft Word. The CTFMON-Remover avoids all of this problems.
